Industrial process modelling: simulation of a thermodeasphalting section for the regeneration of used oil.

Description: This M.Sc. thesis aims to develop a model of an existing thermodeasphalting (TDA) section for the separation of lubricant bases from used oil, currently operating in the Itelyum Regeneration used oil refinery in Pieve Fissiraga, (LO). The thesis will start with the development of a phenomenological model based on physical data and process simulation tools, to have a reliable steady-state digital twin of the TDA section. Then, an optimization will be performed in order to understand how the overall process section can be improved, with the aim to reduce OPEX and CO2 emissions.
