Industrial Processes and Scale-up

Professor: Carlo Pirola

Insitution: Universita di Milano

M.Sc. Students: Industrial Chemistry and Managment

Semester: 1

Credits: 6

Course Program

The objective of the course is to give to the students the basis of the scale-up science, through lectures and numerical exercizes using a commercial plant simulation software. Moreover, part of the course will be dedicated to the deepening of the two most important field in the chemical industry: reaction kinetics (reactors) and fluid phase equilibria (distillations).

Exercizes using the software PRO/II (Simsci-Sneider Electrics) will be expleined and discussed by means of giuded tutorials. At the end of the class every student will be able to handle with the simulation of batch and continuous reactors and with either simple or azeotropic distillation.
